Troops Foil Attack On Yobe Community, Kill 24 Terrorists

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have repelled a coordinated террорист attack on Kukareta community in Damaturu, killing 24 attackers and recovering a large cache of weapons.

According to a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the assault occurred in the early hours of April 23, 2026, beginning shortly after midnight and lasting until about 3:00 a.m. Troops under Sector 2 responded swiftly with a coordinated offensive-defensive strategy, forcing the attackers into a chaotic retreat.

During the engagement, the troops inflicted significant casualties, with at least 24 террористs neutralised. Follow-up operations on the battlefield led to the recovery of substantial arms and ammunition, including 18 AK-47 rifles, three general-purpose machine guns, two PKT anti-aircraft guns, three rocket-propelled grenade launchers, mortar tubes, hand grenades, and large quantities of ammunition.

The military said the scale of recovered المعدات indicates the attackers were heavily вооружены and had planned a sustained assault on the community.

Despite the успех of the operation, two soldiers sustained injuries but have since been stabilised. Additionally, one армoured vehicle used as reinforcement was damaged during the fighting, with all its tyres reportedly blown out.

Authorities added that exploitation operations are ongoing to track fleeing elements and recover more weapons and bodies along retreat routes, where blood trails and abandoned medical supplies have been обнаружены.

The military reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining pressure on terrorist groups operating in the North East, stressing that efforts will continue to secure communities and dismantle remaining insurgent networks in the region.
