Sowore Vows to Restore Fuel Subsidy, Fight Corruption If Elected President
African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore says he would restore and retain fuel subsidies if elected president in 2027, arguing that their removal has increased economic hardship for Nigerians.
Speaking with ARISE NEWS, Sowore said his administration would tackle corruption and eliminate the leakages and alleged fraud associated with the subsidy system. He also promised to revive Nigeria’s four refineries and expand local refining to reduce dependence on imported petroleum products.
Sowore said every naira allocated to fuel subsidies under his government would be properly accounted for, while those benefiting from corrupt practices would be removed from the system.
The activist also pledged to fight corruption, strengthen governance and replace what he described as Nigeria’s recycled political leadership with a new generation of competent leaders.
He rejected the idea of joining political coalitions with established parties, arguing that such arrangements could compromise his principles.
As he prepares for the 2027 presidential election, Sowore urged Nigerians to reject what he described as “renewed hopelessness” and support a new direction for the country.
