Court Orders Final Forfeiture of Multi-Billion Naira Assets Linked to Aisha Achimugu

A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Apo, Abuja, has ordered the permanent forfeiture of billions of naira worth of assets linked to businesswoman Aisha Achimugu to the Federal Government.

Justice Jude Onwugbuzie granted the order on July 16, 2026, after ruling that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had fulfilled all legal requirements for the final forfeiture of the assets, which had previously been placed under an interim forfeiture order.

The assets include jewellery valued at over ₦4.64 billion, 11 luxury vehicles worth ₦4.29 billion, $50,000 in cash, and an additional ₦30 million in cash.

Achimugu remains under investigation by the EFCC over allegations of money laundering, conspiracy, corruption, obtaining money by false pretence, and possession of assets suspected to have been unlawfully acquired.

The latest ruling follows earlier court proceedings in April 2026, when the Federal High Court ordered the EFCC to release Achimugu after she honoured an invitation by the anti-graft agency as part of its ongoing investigation.

The EFCC had previously declared Achimugu wanted and also secured a separate court order for the forfeiture of $13 million linked to her company, Oceangate Engineering Oil & Gas Ltd., with investigators alleging that part of the funds was connected to government contracts in Lagos State.

Achimugu has consistently denied any wrongdoing and has maintained that her wealth was built through her long-standing career in the oil and gas industry, which she said began in 2001, well before her involvement in political circles.
