Six Suspects Arrested as Police Bust Alleged ‘Baby Factory’ in Ogun
The Ogun State Police Command says it has arrested six suspects and rescued two pregnant women and four children during a raid on an alleged “baby factory” in the Mowe area of Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area.
According to the police, the operation was conducted on August 24, 2026, following sustained intelligence. Officers reportedly stormed a suspected syndicate hideout at Toluwalase Street, Abaren Village, via Gbarinmole, in Mowe.
Police said preliminary investigations indicate that the facility had allegedly been used for human trafficking and illegal adoption activities.
During the operation, officers rescued two pregnant women and four children—two boys and two girls.
The police also said a follow-up investigation led officers to a hospital in the Mowe area, where another woman had reportedly given birth to a baby boy on August 20. The whereabouts of the newborn could not immediately be established, leading to the arrest of the attending nurse as investigations continued.
The suspects and case have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation. Authorities said efforts are ongoing to locate the missing newborn and determine the full extent of the alleged syndicate’s activities.
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating human trafficking, child exploitation and other crimes across the state.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to the police to help protect vulnerable members of the community.
