Katsina Government, UNICEF Intensify Diphtheria Prevention and Nutrition Awareness
The Katsina State Government, in partnership with UNICEF and other development partners, has intensified public awareness efforts on diphtheria prevention, routine immunisation and proper nutrition, particularly for women and children.
Speaking at a media dialogue in Katsina, the Acting Executive Secretary of the State Primary Health Care Agency, Dr Shaima’u Kabir Abba, stressed the importance of adequate nutrition, especially during the first 1,000 days from pregnancy to a child’s second birthday.
Health officials also urged parents and caregivers to ensure children receive all recommended routine vaccines, describing timely immunisation as one of the most effective ways to prevent diphtheria.
Journalists were encouraged to use their platforms to promote healthy nutrition, vaccination and other preventive health practices across communities.
