INEC to Brief Stakeholders on 2027 Election Preparations in Abuja
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will on Tuesday, October 6, hold a national stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja as preparations for Nigeria’s 2027 general elections gather momentum.
The meeting is expected to provide political parties, security agencies and other key stakeholders with updates on the commission’s preparations, including voter registration, the voters’ register, candidate nominations, logistics and measures aimed at safeguarding the electoral process.
Adedayo Oketola, Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Joash Amupitan, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday.
INEC to Discuss 2027 Election Preparations
According to Oketola, Amupitan will address participants alongside other major stakeholders involved in Nigeria’s electoral process.
The commission said the meeting reflects its commitment to transparency, proactive communication and collaboration with stakeholders ahead of the 2027 elections.
“The national stakeholders’ meeting underlines the commission’s commitment to absolute transparency, proactive public communication and collaborative engagement with key actors in the electoral ecosystem,” the statement said.
Political Parties, Security Agencies to Attend
The meeting is expected to bring together leaders of political parties and security agencies operating under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES).
Members of the diplomatic corps, development partners and civil society organisations are also expected to participate.
Other expected participants include election observer groups, disability rights advocates, religious and traditional leaders, youth organisations and media executives.
Meeting to Hold in Abuja
The stakeholders’ meeting will take place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (BAT-ICC), Abuja.
The event will also be broadcast live on major national television networks and streamed through INEC’s official social media platforms.
The engagement comes as preparations for the 2027 general elections continue, with voter registration, candidate nominations, electoral logistics and security remaining key issues for stakeholders.
