The shallow quake caused widespread destruction, collapsing dozens of adobe and quincha homes. Authorities say 48 houses were destroyed, leaving around 300 residents homeless. Emergency responders are assessing the damage and providing support to affected communities.
Peru lies along the Pacific Ring of Fire, one of the world’s most active seismic zones, where hundreds of earthquakes occur each year.
