VeryDarkMan Accuses Government, Security Agencies of Benefiting From Insecurity

Social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has accused government officials and security agencies of financially benefiting from Nigeria’s ongoing insecurity.

Speaking at the 2026 Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt, VDM alleged that stolen public funds are being invested in cattle and claimed that some security officials benefit from increased funding linked to the insecurity crisis.

He also alleged that the police and other security agencies contribute to kidnapping through information reportedly obtained at checkpoints.

VDM argued that ordinary Nigerians continue to bear the brunt of insecurity while government officials, military personnel and other agencies allegedly benefit from increased security spending.

However, the claims were made during a panel discussion and were not supported by evidence presented at the event.
