Plateau Govt Imposes 48-Hour Curfew in Jos North After Deadly Attack

The Plateau State Government has declared a 48-hour curfew in Jos North Local Government Area following a deadly attack that claimed several lives and left others injured.

In a statement issued on Sunday, authorities said the measure followed a violent incident in Gari Ya Waye community, Angwan Rukuba, which resulted in multiple casualties.

The curfew, which took immediate effect, is expected to run from midnight of March 29 to April 1, 2026, as part of efforts to restore order and prevent further violence.

Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang condemned the attack, describing it as senseless and unprovoked. He assured residents that security agencies are working to apprehend those responsible and bring them to justice.

The government also urged residents to remain calm, stay vigilant, and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information to support ongoing investigations.

Security personnel have since been deployed across affected areas to enforce the curfew and maintain law and order as authorities intensify response efforts.
