Ned Nwoko Denies Marrying Regina Daniels At 17, Shares Voter’s Card As Evidence
Senator Ned Nwoko Refutes Claims He Married Regina Daniels at 17, Shares Voter’s Card as Proof
Senator Ned Nwoko has publicly denied recent claims that he married popular Nollywood actress Regina Daniels when she was just 17 years old. The politician and businessman described the allegations as “entirely false, misleading, and malicious,” insisting that his wife was 21 at the time of their marriage.
In a statement shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, Nwoko addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding his marriage to the actress. According to him, there has been a deliberate attempt to distort the facts about their union, and he decided to make a public clarification backed by documentary proof.

“For clarity, during my first meeting with Regina, I asked her about her age, and she told me she was 21 years old,” Nwoko wrote. “I further requested any document that could verify this information, and she presented her INEC voter’s card, which clearly states that she was born on October 10th, 1998.”
The senator explained that he had retained a copy of the document since then and decided to share it publicly to dispel misinformation. He said that the recent resurgence of claims suggesting that Regina was underage when they got married prompted him to release the evidence. “It is unfortunate that people continue to recycle falsehoods without checking facts. The document speaks for itself,” he added.
Nwoko also referred to an interview Regina’s mother, Rita Daniels, granted the BBC shortly after their wedding. In that interview, he said, her mother affirmed that her daughter was indeed of legal age at the time she got married. “This has never been a secret. It was public knowledge that Regina was an adult when we got married. The records are clear,” he stated.
He went on to clarify that their marriage took place six years ago, which, according to him, means that Regina is now 27 years old. “Any claim that I married her at 17 is completely untrue. The facts are verifiable and indisputable,” he said. “Those who have doubts can cross-check with public records.”
Nwoko expressed disappointment at what he called “a calculated attempt to malign his reputation” and urged the public to approach such claims “with caution and discernment.” He further alleged that Regina’s recent remarks may not reflect her true state of mind, citing concerns about her “current mental condition” and what he described as an “abandoned rehabilitation from illegal drug addiction.”
The senator stated that his decision to address the matter was not to fuel controversy but to set the record straight. “This issue has been misrepresented for too long. I owe it to my family and the public to clarify the facts,” he said.
In conclusion, Nwoko reiterated that there was no wrongdoing in his marriage to Regina Daniels, emphasizing that all necessary cultural and legal requirements were fulfilled. He called on the media and the public to respect their privacy and refrain from spreading unfounded rumors.
