Lead Counsel, Wahab Shittu, Withdraws From Mohbad’s DNA Case
Wahab Shittu’s Law Firm Withdraws from Mohbad DNA Proceedings
Updated October 28, 2025
The law firm of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Wahab Shittu, has withdrawn from all legal proceedings concerning the DNA test of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
In a statement signed by Mr. Wahab Shittu, the firm’s founding head, and made available to the media, the withdrawal was attributed to what he described as a “sustained campaign of falsehood” circulating on social media. The online allegations reportedly claimed that there were attempts to influence or compromise the outcome of the DNA process.
“This campaign of calumny, without any foundation whatsoever, has become very persistent in recent days,” the statement read. “The path of honour, integrity, and professionalism is to withdraw further participation and legal advisory services to Mohbad’s family with respect to the said DNA proceedings.”
The firm clarified that it holds no personal interest in the outcome of the DNA test, stating that its only concern is the pursuit of justice and the revelation of truth.
According to the firm, its decision has already been communicated to Mohbad’s family, adding that transparency in the DNA process remains crucial. “We had also communicated to the family that, in the interest of all parties, including the subject child, the DNA process must be conducted in a transparent manner, using reputable DNA centres within and outside the country to prevent any possible compromise,” the statement said.
The firm emphasised that its withdrawal applies solely to the DNA proceedings and does not affect its involvement in other legal matters relating to Mohbad’s family.
Concluding the statement, the firm announced plans to formally file withdrawal documents before the appropriate court to finalise the process.
