Breaking: Phyna’s Sister, Ruth Otabor, Passes Away After Truck Accident
Ruth Otabor, sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna, has tragically passed away.
Her death was confirmed on Sunday through a statement issued by Eko Solicitors & Advocates on behalf of the family, and shared by Phyna on her Instagram page.
According to the statement, Ruth died around 6:30 a.m. on August 31, 2025.
“With a heavy heart, the family regrets to announce the passing on to glory of their daughter, sister, and mother on this 31st Day of August, 2025 at about 06:30Hrs,” the statement read.
The family appealed for privacy as they mourn their loss, adding that funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
Ruth’s passing comes just weeks after she was involved in a devastating accident. On August 13, 2025, she was struck by a Dangote Group truck near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State. The crash resulted in severe injuries, leading to the amputation of her leg. Eyewitnesses said the truck was eventually stopped by a bystander.
The tragic incident occurred only six days after Ruth’s graduation from Auchi Polytechnic, leaving her family, friends, and fans in shock.
