Ogun Police Confirm Arrest of TikToker Mirabel Over Alleged False Rape Claim

February 20, 2026 | Breaking News

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Nigerian TikToker Mirabel over allegations that she raised a false rape alarm, as investigations into the controversial case continue.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed the development on Friday, stating that the social media personality is currently in police custody.

“She is with us now and investigation is ongoing,” Babaseyi said.

When asked whether she would face prosecution if investigators conclude that her allegation was fabricated, the spokesperson declined to give a definitive answer.

“The facts will tell at the conclusion of our investigation,” he added.

Case Sparks Nationwide Debate

The arrest marks a significant development in a case that has generated widespread debate on social media.

Mirabel, known on TikTok as @mirab351, had earlier posted emotional videos alleging that an unidentified man forced his way into her apartment on February 15, restrained her, and threatened that his family’s influence would shield him from justice.

Her claims went viral, prompting public outrage and calls for swift action from law enforcement authorities.

Police Response and Investigation

Initially, the police maintained that Mirabel was treated as a complainant rather than a suspect after reporting the alleged assault.

According to the command, the Commissioner of Police directed officers at the Ibafo Division to establish immediate contact with her once the allegations surfaced online.

She later reported to the police station, gave preliminary statements, and was taken for medical examination. The case was subsequently transferred to the Ogijo Police Station, where the alleged incident reportedly occurred.

Police authorities said she also received medical attention due to her emotional and physical condition while investigations commenced.

DSP Babaseyi had earlier emphasised the command’s neutrality, stating that due process would determine the outcome.

“In general, if she’s telling the truth, the perpetrator will be arrested and charged to court appropriately,” he said previously.

“If it is otherwise, the law goes against giving false information, and that can make anyone who gives false information culpable.”

Investigations remain ongoing.
