February 23, 2026

Suspected fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) have reportedly attacked the Garahamojili military camp of the Nigerian Army in Adamawa State, killing at least two soldiers during a gun battle.

According to information gathered by Sahara Reporters, the insurgents launched the assault on Sunday, engaging troops in a firefight that lasted about 20 minutes before overrunning the position.

Two soldiers were confirmed dead, while an unspecified number of others are believed to have sustained injuries.

Sources said parts of the camp were set ablaze during the attack, with several structures destroyed and three military vehicles burned.

The attackers reportedly seized weapons and ammunition from the facility before retreating to undisclosed locations.

As of the time of reporting, the Nigerian military had not issued an official statement confirming the incident or providing further details on casualties and damage.

Adamawa State, which borders Borno State — the epicentre of Nigeria’s long-running insurgency — has experienced intermittent attacks in recent months.
