Festival Celebrates Culture and Heritage
The 14th edition of the Mata International Equestrian Festival officially began on Saturday in northern Morocco, attracting local residents, international visitors, cultural enthusiasts, and equestrian teams from various backgrounds.
The annual festival is renowned for showcasing Morocco’s rich cultural heritage, traditional values, and longstanding equestrian traditions while promoting unity and community engagement.
Activities on the opening day included the presentation of participating Mata equestrian teams and the commencement of the festival’s signature horse-riding competitions, which remain a major attraction for visitors.
The equestrian events are widely regarded as symbols of Morocco’s historic connection to horseback riding and serve as an important platform for preserving and celebrating the country’s cultural identity.
Organisers say the festival continues to play a significant role in promoting cultural exchange, tourism, and international partnerships while highlighting the values of heritage, tradition, and social cohesion.
