Hakeem Baba-Ahmed: Tinubu Not In Touch With Nigerians’ Reality

20th April, 2026 | News

Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), has criticised the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accusing it of being out of touch with the realities facing Nigerians.

Speaking during an interview on ARISE News, Baba-Ahmed argued that worsening poverty, insecurity, and governance challenges reflect a growing disconnect between government claims and the lived experiences of citizens. While acknowledging the need for respect in political discourse, he maintained that the current level of hardship across the country cannot be ignored.

He questioned official narratives of progress, noting that many Nigerians continue to face economic strain and insecurity. According to him, the gap between policy pronouncements and actual conditions on the ground has widened significantly, creating frustration among citizens.

Beyond his criticism of the federal government, Baba-Ahmed highlighted what he described as renewed momentum within the PRP, stating that the party is attracting interest from individuals seeking an alternative political platform. He described the party as a viable option ahead of future elections, adding that it remains open to new members who align with its principles.

He also stressed the importance of credible elections, warning that the stability of Nigeria’s democracy depends on transparency and integrity in the electoral process. Drawing from his past experience within the electoral system, he urged institutions to maintain high ethical standards and avoid actions that could undermine public trust.

Baba-Ahmed further called on citizens to play a more active role during elections, encouraging them to monitor voting and ensure accountability beyond simply casting ballots.

According to him, Nigeria’s core challenge remains leadership quality, arguing that improved governance, accountability, and integrity are essential to addressing the country’s current difficulties and restoring public confidence.
