ECWA Pastor Regains Freedom After Abduction in Jos

The Evangelical Church Winning All has confirmed the release of its Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Sunday Agang, who was kidnapped earlier in the week in Jos, Plateau State.

In a statement issued on Friday, the church expressed relief and gratitude, announcing that the cleric “has regained his freedom and is currently safe.” It described his release as a testament to divine intervention and the power of collective prayers, while appreciating members and supporters who stood in solidarity during the ordeal.

Despite the positive outcome, the church raised concerns over the growing wave of insecurity across the country. It warned that kidnapping has increasingly become a means of livelihood for criminal groups, posing a serious threat to national safety.

The church called on government authorities at all levels to take urgent and decisive action to protect lives and property, stressing that security remains a fundamental responsibility of the state.

Rev. Agang was reportedly abducted at his residence in Jos, where armed groups have continued to target commuters and prominent individuals. His kidnapping triggered widespread concern and prayer campaigns among ECWA members both within Nigeria and abroad.

While celebrating his safe return, the church reaffirmed its commitment to peace and unity, urging continued prayers for the safety and stability of the nation.
