Man Alleges Negligence At Minna Primary Health Care, Says Daughter Left Unattended During Emergency

Minna Resident Raises Alarm Over Alleged Negligence at Tunga Primary Health Care

March 9, 2026 – News

A resident of Minna, Mohammed Baba Ibrahim, has raised concerns over alleged negligence at Tunga Primary Health Care located along Peter Sarki Road, after his daughter was reportedly left unattended during a medical emergency.

In a social media post on Monday, Baba Ibrahim recounted that he visited the health facility in the early hours of March 9, 2026, but could not find any staff at the pharmacy section despite several attempts to get assistance.

According to him, he and his family waited for about 20 to 25 minutes while repeatedly calling out and knocking in the hope that someone would respond.

“We proceeded to the pharmacy section but found no staff present. We stood there for about 20–25 minutes, repeatedly calling ‘Assalamu Alaikum’ and knocking in the hope that someone who might be asleep would wake up and attend to us. Sadly, no one responded,” he said.

He explained that he eventually left the facility without his daughter receiving medical attention due to the absence of staff.

“Left with no other option and worried about the health of my daughter, we had to leave the facility without receiving any medical attention. Even as we were leaving, the security guard did not say anything or show any concern,” he added.

Baba Ibrahim questioned who should be held accountable for the situation, pointing to possible gaps in supervision and management at the health centre.

“Who is responsible for this level of negligence? Is it the government, the health workers, or a lack of proper supervision?” he asked.

He called on the Niger State Government and other relevant authorities to investigate the incident and ensure accountability among staff at the facility.

“I call on the relevant authorities to investigate this incident and take appropriate action. There should be proper supervision and accountability to ensure health workers on duty carry out their responsibilities diligently,” he said.

Baba Ibrahim also suggested that disciplinary action should be taken against any staff found guilty of negligence.

“If necessary, disciplinary measures should be taken against any staff found guilty of negligence, as there are many qualified and dedicated professionals willing to serve the public responsibly,” he stated.

He further emphasized the need for reliable emergency services at public health centres, stressing that citizens should be able to depend on such facilities during urgent situations.

“Our health centres must be places where citizens can go with confidence in times of emergency, not places where lives are put at risk due to carelessness. I sincerely hope the authorities will take urgent steps to address this issue and improve service delivery in our public health facilities,” he said.
